This error can occur on Unix machines when you are telnet’ing into the machine remotely. The STAF InstallShield MultiPlatform installer is a GUI application, therefore, you must export your DISPLAY from the Unix machine to the machine from which you are telnet’ing. Most applications will give you an error message if the DISPLAY is not correctly exported, but, there is a bug in InstallShield MultiPlatform where it does not give you an error message and will just sit there.
