What if the recipient of a FedEx Express package is not home when the package arrives?

If a package cannot be delivered on the initial delivery attempt, we will either reattempt delivery, and/or hold the shipment at our facility and an attempt may be made to notify the recipient to establish further instructions. Re-delivery service will be provided at no extra charge. A notice of attempted delivery will be left at the recipient’s address after each attempted delivery. Alternatively, in certain circumstances, the shipper can sign the “Sign to Authorize Delivery Without a Signature” option on the air waybill, which authorizes FedEx to leave the package without obtaining a signature. Some restrictions apply. See the terms and conditions section of the FedEx Service Guide for details.
