What Illnesses Have the Same Symptoms As a UTI?
A urinary tract infection, or UTI, is an infection of the urinary system, which includes the ureters, urethra, bladder and kidneys. Both men and women can develop a UTI, but women are more likely to experience them due to their structural anatomy. Symptoms of a UTI can include fever, pain or burning with urination, back pain, urinary frequency and urgency, pelvic pain and cloudy or foul smelling urine. Treatment usually includes antibiotic therapy. There are other illnesses that may have some of the same symptoms of a UTI. Patients with any of the symptoms associated with a UTI should seek prompt medical care.
