What impact is Professor Brainstorm having on childrens reading?
Professor Brainstorm was developed with best practices in mind. The use of the orange and blue cards along with characters allows the children to use patterns and meaning when spelling, building and recalling words. Children are forced to look at the vowels on the mat separately from the consonants, and then build a word with essential to know vowel patterns in mind. Once this is accomplished the child becomes faster at taking words apart and building words up. The faster a child can do this, the better they can do this while reading (and writing) when they get to a word they don’t know.
