What impact will the new Bill have on housing providers?
There will be a major impact on all housing providers as it will replace existing legislation, add new legislation and a new public sector Duty (Housing Associations will be expected to comply as they are regulated by a public body). Proposals include: • Introduction of a new Equality Duty on the public sector • Outlawing of age discrimination in the provision of goods and services • Requirement for transparency in gender pay, ethnic minority and disability employment • Extension of positive action • Strengthening enforcement • Significant changes to disability legislation These one day events will give housing professionals the opportunity to take stock of where they are currently with Equality and Diversity within their workplace.
