What initiatives does TICO require funds for?
All operating costs and initiatives other than administration of the Compensation Fund and payment of claims are funded by registration and renewal fees. Some examples include implementing the requirements under the new Act and Regulation, development of the Minimum Education Standards curriculum and the establishment and work of the new Consumer Advisory Committee. Two of the most costly initiatives are the Consumer Awareness Campaign and the Traveller’s Protection Initiative (TPI). These items are all consumer protection initiatives, which are part of TICO’s mandate as a Regulator.
