Technically, 35mm format photography refers to the width of the negative that the camera produces, that is, a 35mm camera produces a small negative - 35mm in width. For the most part, all of our 35mm format photographers use only the finest 35mm equipment available - Nikon, Cannon, etc. These cameras are typically fully automated; the camera itself determines the correct aperture, exposure & flash. As a result, 35mm photography lends itself well to a spontaneous style of photography and is the format of choice for "photojournalistic" style. Automated cameras free the photographer from the burden of adjusting settings manually, thereby enabling them to respond and capture events as they are unfolding. NOTE: Automated settings can be overridden for those times when the experienced 35mm photographer may want the precise control that medium format photographers enjoy.
