What is a bassinet used for.?

I’ve started all three of my kids in a bassinet first. They liked the feeling of being a little more enclosed as opposed to sleeping in a large open crib. Around the third or fourth month my kids grew too big to stay in the bassinet, so I moved them to a crib. You can always roll up a couple of blankets and put them on either side of your baby to take up some of the room if they seem to not like it. That helped a couple of my kids.

We have an antique bassinet that we kept in our room. The basket detached from the legs so I could move it around the house while I was cleaning.

It makes it easy to have the baby in the room with you where ever you are. I have been told it also helps the baby feel more secure because they are surrounded on all sides. My baby sleeps in her bassinet right next to my bed. I don’t have to get out of bed to take care of her. Babies do out grow the bassinet really quickly. They are generally used for 0-3 months.
