What is a bleed and trim and safe zones?
Bleed Zone: is the term for printing that goes right to the edge of the paper on all four sides. The way to do this is to make your document 0.25 bigger on all four directions. Trim Zone: is measured 0.0625 (1/16) going inside the bleed on all fours corners. So anything inside the bleed up to 0.0625 will be trimmed off on all four sides of the postcards. Safe Zone: is measured 0.0625 (1/16) inside the trim lines on all fours corners. Make sure you keep all your important images and text inside the trim lines. For example: the layout dimensions for a 4 x 6 postcard would be set to 4.25 x 6.25 which includes the bleed size of (1/8) on all fours corners going outside the 4 x 6 layout. After deign is complete the print ready document will be 4 x 6 excluding the bleed zone. Then the cutter will trim off up to 0.0625 (1/16) on all four corners. Just remember, all important text and images that you don’t want trimmed off must be placed inside the safe zone.
