There are three different types of Fishing line, Fluorocarbon, Monofilament, and Braid.  Each one of them has their own characteristics and certain lines should be used in certain situations.  For your question Braided Line is the strongest type of line on the market as it’s made up of multiple stains of Dacron or Spectra fibers.    It’s used because its resistance to abrasion, line diameter, knot strength,  and most importantly sensitivity.   You can use braid in almost any fishing situation but there are certain techniques & tactics where braided line might be your best choice or your worst.

There are different types of braided fishing line. Some are made of Dacron, Spectra and etc. The reasons for braided fishing line is there is no stretch in it as well as you can fit more on the spool. There are a few downfalls using braided line. It is not resistant against rocks or sand, but the good outweighs the bad since the strength is great with braided line.

Braided fishing line is surrounded by confusion. “Braids” or “superlines”, which is which? Can they break your rods and damage your reels? Will knots from superlines hold? Are they worth the high price? Trying to sort it out can make your head explode! Today’s braided fishing lines are far removed from their early ancestors. Early on they were made from braided Dacron which was devoid of stretch, had poor knot strength, strongly inclined towards backlashes and were not the least bit abrasion resistant. Construction of Braided Lines In 2009 braided lines are greatly improved made not from Dacron, but from high performance “gel-spun” micro-fibers of modern day, high tech materials like Dyneema (Spiderwire, Fireline, Stren Sonic Braid) and Spectra (P-Line, PowerPro). These materials are forms of “polyethylene”, which is plastic, and carry the description GSP (gel-spun polyethylene). Braided lines used for bass fishing are constructed by braiding together three or four individual strands (
