Belonging to the family Psittacidae, the genus Melopsittacus and the species Undulatus, the budgerigar is more commonly known as parakeets. They constitute a significant part of the avian wildlife in Australia. Budgeigars are about seven inches in length, having bars of eclectic colours across the upper part of their bodies whilst their face is bright yellow in colour. As for captive parakeets, their faces have a diverse colour range. Cool shades of green, blue and violet are definitely common.
