What is a Certified Nurse Aide (CNA)?
A certified nurse aide is an individual who has succesfully completed the Certified Nursing Assistant certification exam for nursing assistant and is an active nursing assistant in a state. He should have passed the state approved nurse aide training progrm to be included in the certified nurse aide. A CNA can then be enrolled in a CNA Registery, also known as Nurse Aide Registery.
The certified nurse aide is a person who works primarily in long term care (nursing homes) assisting residents with activities of daily living under the supervision of the nurse. A Certified Nurse Aide has met the following requirements: • Completed a state-approved nurse aide training program, • Pass the nurse aide competency evaluation consisting of both a written and a skills test, and • Be listed in good standing as a CNA on the Indiana State Nurse Aide Registry.
