A commercial garage door is a type of garage door often found in certain types of businesses, most commonly related to those businesses which work on automobiles. In most cases, these garage doors are larger and less ornate than most other types of garage doors. Usually a commercial garage door is an overhead garage door similar to doors used in many other types of applications. These doors are commonly seen at truck shipping terminals and airplane hangars. A commercial garage door can be found on certain businesses, such as those that are related to automotive work.  Usually they are bigger and less decorative (due to most of the focus being placed on the door’s functionality small windows are usually the only decorative touch that is found within these garage doors) than other types of garage doors.

Most commercial garage doors are overhead doors.  However, there are other types as well with the most common type being those that slide horizontally.  These are considered a great way to protect a door whenever there are tools or work areas that require a high vertical clearance.

There are numerous different standards that a commercial garage door must meet, including:

  • It will need to be taller so that it can cover larger openings.
  • It needs to be able to be secured so that nobody can easily break into the premises whenever nobody is present.

Commercial garage doors are usually made out of steel because it is durable and won’t dent easily.  Thanks to the steel, it is relatively inexpensive but, of course, this will be dependent upon what other features you choose.  For instance, some of these garage doors are insulated in order to cut down on energy costs while providing workers with a comfortable atmosphere.  You may also reap other financial benefits from this as well.  Plus, it definitely makes a lot more sense to insulate the door than to invest a lot of money so as to be able to insulate the rest of the building.
