What is a Court Judgment?
If a person or company owes you money and wont pay you, you could file a claim against that person or company in the appropriate Court in your area. If you win your case against your debtor, the Court will issue a Judgment. A Judgment may also be called a Default Judgment, a Final Judgment, an Order, a Payment Order, a Default Order, a Restitution Order, an Arbitration Order, a Child Support or Maintenance Order, a Spousal Support Order, etc. A Court Judgment is an Order from a Court which states that a certain person or company (called the Judgment Debtor) must pay to another person or company (called the Judgment Creditor) a specific amount of money. When a Court Judgment is issued by a Court, the Court records the judgment on a paper document stamped by the Court. This paper document is proof that the Judgment Debtor does, in fact, owe the Judgment Creditor the amount of money ordered by the Court.
