A “database-driven” website is a site that displays pages to a visitor based upon data/text in a database. When websites were first appearing on the Internet, most sites consisted of many pages of information. If a company wanted to display and/or sell 1,000 items in their website, a web designer would have had to build at least 1,000 pages. This became not only very time consuming, but very problematic when information had to be updated. Now, a website can have thousands of pages that are all controlled by the data within one or more databases.
