What is a good, hardy Boxwood for our climate?
Michael Dirr in his Manual of Woody Landscape Plants identifies several cultivars of Buxus sempervirens as cold hardy, especially ‘Green Velvet’ and ‘Vardar Valley.’ Visit Missouri Botanical Garden in March or April for a firsthand view of these and other B. sempervirens and B. microphylla cultivars. Ask the Plant Doctors at Kemper Center for Home Gardening for help in locating displays.
