What is a hemp necklace made from exactly?
The hemp in our necklaces is from plants in the Cannabis genus, but it is not the variety people think of when they think of illegal plants. Industrial hemp from around the world goes into things like construction materials, paper and even plastics! The hemp we use is very strong because it is of the highest quality. It is resistant to ultraviolet light, mold and insects, hemp fiber is very strong and dense in addition to being comfortable to wear. The fibers used for the same material we use for necklaces is often called “bast”, and comes from the outside ring of the plant.
