The Gallardo (pronounced ‘guy-ARE-dough) is a two-seat sports coupe produced by Italian auto company Automobili Lamborghini, which is part of the VW/Audi Group. It’s price, performance, and limited availability place it in the category known as ‘supercars’. It competes in sales with such cars as the Ford GT, Porsche 911 Turbo, and Ferrari F430. It is the cheaper of Lamborghini’s two models, the other being the Murcielago (say ‘mur-see-el-AH-go’). Several versions of the Gallardo are produced, ranging in price from about $170,000 to over $350,000 for the ultra-high-performance Gallardo Superlegerra roadster (convertible). The car is powered by a V-10 engine, which can range from 500 to 630 horsepower depending on the version.
