What is a LATA and why is IntraLATA calling different from Intrastate calling?

A. Intra means “within”. Calling from within a state to another point within the same state is Intrastate calling. The rate charged for that type of call is our In-state rate mentioned in the prior question. For a description of an IntraLATA call click here. A call from a point within the LATA to another point within the same LATA is considered to be an IntraLATA call. To avoid confusion, we charge the same for an IntraLATA call as we do for an In-state call. Normally, our IntraLATA rate provides some of the largest savings. Make sure you send that traffic to us, too!
