What is a Letter of Permission (LOP)?

If you plan to complete courses outside of UBC (for example, on a summer program, at another university or at a college) and want to transfer those credits back to your UBC degree, you need to request a Letter of Permission (LOP) from UBC before registering at another institution. In general, an LOP is granted to students who are in good academic standing, have met all their continuation and registration requirements, have fewer than 90 credits, and are not registered in classes at UBC at the same time as attending another post-secondary institution.
