A live-in is a caregiver who lives in a client’s home on a 24 hour basis. A live-in provides the appropriate level of personal care and support services for a client who needs the security of another person in his/her home, but does not require shifts of care. Live-in caregivers provide safety and companionship. If a client needs a live-in caregiver 7 days a week, generally one person works for 5 days and another for 2 days.
