Loop pile carpets are a design of carpets that are created using a series of uncut loops. The series of loops are created using weaving machinery that can be configured to create a set pattern of heights to the loops, or go with one uniform height. This diversity in the way the loops are created allows a loop pile carpet to feature a very plain appearance, or sport an intricate design. Generally a loop pile carpet is constructed of fibers that are considered to be long lasting. Polypropylene, or olefin fiber, is often an excellent choice for this type of carpeting, since it holds up very well under a great deal of wear. However, it is not unusual for nylon to be employed when the design calls for a short and relatively uniform carpet pile.
