What is a low pass filter for on my amp?

0

It depends on how you want to use your amp. A low pass filter passes the lower frequencies/Bass and blocks the higher frequencies. If you are setting up bass speakers, or subs you need to use it. If you are trying to play all the music though a couple speakers you would not use it. Bass frequencies or Hz are between 20 and 200 Hertz. Generally a filter has a curve to the frequencies. If you set it at 200 you will get 200 and lower. But you would also get 500 Hz and 1000 Hz witch are mid range frequencies. The higher frequencies will not be as loud, and the higher the frequency is the less loud it will be. So you may want to set it at 20 or 100 Hz to pass even less of the higher frequencies. There is nothing wrong with trying several settings until you find one you like.

Yep, it only allows the low frequencies through, only used for subs. What it is set at is totally personal preference.
