What is a magneto on a four wheeler?

a magneto is a self contained self exciting generator combined with the low tension and a high tension circuit. On the early bikes and cars it was a method of providing a HUGE spark with only one rotation of the unit. there was no seperate coil or other ignition components. Later the high tension circuits were removed and it was just a simple generator and low tension ignition unit, This has now been modified by the addition of an electronic pickup to replace the points. The only place magneto’s are still used is on light aircraft and on aircooled VW powered self builds. I assume you mean a generator for the blaster not an aftermarket Magneto.
