What is a New York style hot dog?
For years the western New York area has been known for its fine food. Immigrants migrated to the area in the 1800s and brought with them the recipes from the Old Country. Polish, Germans, Italians, the Irish and many others have a strong foothold in the food industry of Western New York. Jim McCabe was born and raised in Buffalo New York and he is bringing that history of food preparation to Carlsbad California. The New York style hot dog has a natural casing and is cooked on an open flame grill. When the dog is done the casing pops open and then the condiments are loaded on. The treat is all the condiments that are available at Jimmis. Webers Horseradish mustard and Piccadilly Relish are some favorites. Sauerkraut, grilled peppers and onions, nacho cheese, sauted mushrooms and Jimmis famous homemade chili are some others.
