What is a Nielsen DMA?
DMA stands for “designated market area” and is a term used by Nielsen Media Research to identify an exclusive geographic area of counties in which the home market television stations hold a dominance of total hours viewed. There are 210 DMA’s in the U.S. More info can be found at www.nielsenmedia.com. FOX 50 (WRAZ-TV/WRAZ-DT) DMA includes these North Carolina counties: Chatham, Cumberland, Durham, Edgecombe, Franklin, Granville, Halifax, Harnett, Hoke, Johnston, Lee, Moore, Nash, Northampton, Orange, Person, Sampson, Vance, Wake, Warren, Wayne, Wilson and Mecklenberg, Virginia.
