What Is a Parson Russell Terrier?
Parson Russell Terriers are descended from a dog called ‘Trump’ who was the property of Parson John Russell in early 1800s. A history of the breed is shown here. The breed standard as defined by the Kennel Club is shown here. Parson Russell Terriers are often confused with ‘Jack Russells’. Rather than being a distinct breed recognised by the Kennel Club, Jack Russells are a generic type of dog, and vary widely in terms of looks, conformation and temperament.
