An IV Persantine Sestambi Stress Test is a diagnostic test used to evaluate the adequacy of blood supply to your heart and the condition of your heart and its arteries. IV Persantine dilates the coronary arteries. The Sestamibi contains a very small amount of radioactivity that can be detected by a special camera that can take pictures of your heart at rest and immediately after the Persantine infusion. The results of this test will help our physicians determine what treatment is best for you. What to Expect: The test has two parts, a “REST” portion and a “STRESS” portion. The resting portion is first. This takes approximately one and one-half hours. You will be given an intravenous injection of radioactive tracer, Sestamibi, that follows the blood flow pattern to your heart. This is NOT a dye and there are no reactions or side effects. You will then “REST” for one hour in the Waiting Room. You will then lie down on a table while a large camera moves around your chest taking pictures o
