It’s just to keep an animal out of or in certain areas you don’t want them in. Never mind the stupidly expensive ones you see advertised just ask around or go to a second hand store and get a baby gate, same thing for half the cost.

A pet gate is a gate that fits across an indoor space such as a hallway or doorway to limit a pet’s access to a specific area. Pet gates are pretty much the same thing as baby gates, but designed for pets, mostly small dogs. Large dogs and cats can jump over most pet gates unless they are extra tall gates. A pet gate may be free-standing or it may attach with hardware onto a wall on each side. The type that attaches to two walls is just a straight across gate, while the free-standing type has sides that rest against a wall. Free-standing gates work for dogs that aren’t able to push them open to get through one of the sides. Some pet gates are made for very wide openings. A sliding style pet gate extends to adjust to the size of hallway or doorway. As long as the area isn’t wider than that of the fully extended pet gate, then it is made to fit the space without any measuring required. Pet gates are a great way to let a dog move around freely in a large area such as a family room, while

A pet gate is a barrier that prevents a pet from entering into areas where they are not permitted. The function of a pet gate is to act like an indoor fence; withholding your pet from obstructing a room or area that is “off limits”. To avoid many of the issues that come with having pets, many people find that pet gates provide a good solution.  Many people want to keep their pet away from a certain area in the home. Due to the fact that so many people cohabit with animals, pet gates are popular. A pet gate promotes pet supervision without constant worry. They are sold in a variety of models. Some pet gates are free standing (for smaller pets), while others are mounted to a door or wall.  Sometimes pet gates are mounted at the top or bottom of a staircase, stopping the pet from visiting another level of the house. A standard pet gate has a wooden frame and panels and is pressure mounted to the entryway of a room or hall. Pet gates come in all different designs, materials, and styles. They can be made of wood, steel, plastic, aluminum, wire, or metal. Pet gates come in all different sizes too and are usually adjustable to the height of your pet. Gates may be effortlessly folded or collapsed for storage. Resembling a mini, removable wall, pet gates are easy to assemble and use. Pet gates may be flexible, able to expand, or retract. Classic pet gates come with extensions. Some pet gates are large enough to confine or enclose your pet within a designated area. There are also pet gates that have a swinging door, allowing people to pass through them. Some gates are built with a mini pet door for a cat or smaller pet to pass through. There are also pet gates which have a hard frame, but are covered with a canvas so your pet can’t see through it. A basic pet gate ranges from $25-$70 on average. Elaborate pet gates with electronic or automatic features may run up to $200. Pet gates can be very stylish or even customized to accent the décor of your home. There are many reasons people invest in pet gates. As much as people love their pets, they may become a distraction, nuisance or interruption to the daily flow of life. The use of a pet gate may be momentary or ongoing. For example, a pet may excessively shed fur and make unnecessary messes in the living room. In this case, a pet gate may be permanently mounted to stop the pet from entering the living room. On the contrary, a pet gate may be temporarily assembled to confine a pet in the kitchen, while the family eats dinner. Either way, pet gates are an effective tool to keep pet prowling under control, as well as an efficient way to manage a space.
