What is a Pet Ramp?

0

Most pet owners treat their pets as one of the family.  They do everything in their power to give their pets a good life.  A product on the market created to bring some ease to some cats and dogs are pet ramps.  These allow pets to get to certain areas easily that they would not normally be able to get to.  There are many variations to these ramps and many different names for these products but they all have the same goal in mind.

Why They Were Created

Pet ramps were created as a way to get pets to areas they could not normally get to.  These work wonderfully for dogs and cats that are small in size, older pets, or pets with conditions that cause they to be achy and in pain.  These pets are typically hesitant to jump up to or down from surfaces due to their condition.  The ramps allow them to get to these spaces without causing themselves any pain.

Indoors and Outdoors

These ramps can be used indoors as well as outdoors.  When used indoors, they allow the pet to get on surfaces such as couches or beds.  When used outdoors, they allow the pet to get in or out of a car as well as a boat.  These ramps can be used just about anywhere.

Many Variations

There are many different variations of the pet ramp that are available.   The designs range from very simple and basic to very elaborate.  In addition to a ramp, there are also cat and dog stairs that can be purchased.  These stairs are a bit more bulky than the ramps but are another option to consider.  Each model of ramp or stairs has its own features as well.  Some versions will fold up for easy storage or transportation.  Other versions are made of different materials such as carpet for the stairs or a rubber surface for outdoor use.  The main use for the pet ramp will determine what type of surface will work best.

Training

Some pets may be a bit scared to use the pet ramp and will need a bit of help to get them to use it.  They are usually easy to train but patience may be needed.  If a pet is scared and continues to be scared to use the ramp, it may be a longer process to train them.  Typically a few days with a few treats will do the trick.

A pet ramp or a set of stairs is a great way to allow a pet to have access to an area they would not normally have access to.  These ramps can be used for any type of pet, typically a cat or dog, or any size pet.  Once the pet is used to being on the ramp, they will be able to use and enjoy places and areas they could not have before.

A pet ramp is a portable inclined plane or set of stairs which allows elderly, disabled or recovering pets to access beds, couches or cars more easily. A pet owner may use a telescoping pet ramp when transporting an animal by car, or a fixed pet ramp to provide easier climbing for a challenged indoor pet. Some pet ramps are shaped more like stairs, with generous tread sizes to allow pets to climb from level to level without the need to stretch from step to step. As pets mature, it often becomes more challenging to reach higher levels of typical home furniture. While a young puppy may be able to leap from the floor to a couch or bed, an older dog may not have the same strength. A graduated pet ramp placed next to the furniture eliminates the need to jump several feet in the air or endure the shock of a hard landing. Different types of furniture may require a different type of pet ramp, since the point is to create a more manageable slope or incline. For those animals who may still be ab
