A photocell is an electronic device able to switch power or control a circuit by sending electrical signal. The main sensing element of this device is a photoresistor. A photoresistor is practically a resistor with resistance varying based on the amount of projected light. The resistance can increase or decrease depending on the configuration (model). The resistance resistance controls a comparator and the comparator circuit controls a relay or power switching device.
