What is a Proofreaders Checklist?
I place my finger under each word as I read. I cross out letters and words that I don’t need. I circle any words that I am not sure how to spell. I close my eyes and say each word – I try to”see” it in my mind. I sound out the word. I write the word two ways and see which way looks better. I look at charts and lists of words around the room. I try to find the word in a book. I ask someone for help. I use a capital letter for the first letter of each sentence. I use a capital letter for proper names. I check that each sentence ends with a period. I show my work to a parter and listen to his or her ideas.
