What is a protectant?
Protectant is a general term that covers a variety of products such as tire shine, interior and exterior dressing, leather conditioner, car wax and sealant, as well as a few others. All of these products are designed to repel and protect against harmful UVB radiation, much like sunscreen does for your skin. UVB rays can oxidize and fade paint, cause clear coats to yellow, and can cause vinyls, rubbers, and plastics to dry out and crack. Beware though, some products are created only to make your car look nice, without providing any actual protection, these are most commonly called dressings.
