What is a recovery point and does my vehicle need one?
A recovery point is a rated hook, loop or hitch; it will have been fitted by the Original Equipment Manufacturer or in the aftermarket in a sturdy position – like straight to the chassis – with high tensile bolts. If you have a class 4 tow hitch (the type with the square-tubed removeable tongue), then you have a great rear point. You will need to have a recovery point front and rear. If you do not have one, or are in doubt, call into your local 4WD store or give us a call for more info. It is not essential (but it is advisable) that AWDs have recovery points fitted. Note that a towball is NOT a recovery point.
