For a private office setting, the person receiving a treatment lays on a massage table fully clothed. The Reiki energy can easily and effectively flow through a layer of clothing or bed sheets. It is a light gentle touch, in fact we can work above the body without touching the individual. Reiki treatment is non-invasive and there is no manipulation. A full treatment with a Reiki therapist usually lasts about one hour. Many times the cause or origin may not be at the place the person is experiencing the discomfort of pain. In a hospital setting, the person will be in normal hospital attire. Reiki can be given before, during and after surgery, to someone giving birth and at any appropiate time during the hospital stay. It will not interfere with any treatment given. Reiki can also be given to a person sitting in a chair or wheelchair. The Reiki therapist will adapt to the setting and situation.
