It’s basically a simple water filter , they are in fact very efficient , however require routine maintenance . you will find ( if you have a system ) the unit under the kitchen sink , or your fridge may have an integrated unit . look under the sink there should be a couple little tanks that are conected to the fridge and one to the little facit, it is a water perification system that cleans drinking water. they are very good and the large bottled water companys use them so keep it, you may need to call the company that made it for service.
Reverse osmosis is recovering unusable water in a well. So, you are right! you don’t have it with city water. Pressure drop is caused by a restriction. If you have changed the filter ( you didn’t mention it), then you might be crimping the water line when you push the frig back in to place. If you pull it out again, disconnect the line from the frig and run water in a bucket, if you have good pressure, then the problem is in the frig.
