• Arrive early: 7:30 a.m. is the required sign-in time regardless of weather. Request and receive your area assignment for the day. • Gear up – and it’s a lot of gear. Boots, uniform, sunscreen, first aid pack, helmet, radio, pack with food & water, extra stuff in case the weather changes, shovel, transceiver, etc… • Head up the mountain before the public to set up signs, do chores, check safe snow conditions, and make sure rescue toboggans are stocked and accessible. • Ski around your assigned area, monitoring the radio and periodically checking in with the patrol leadership at the on-mountain patrol shack. Respond as dispatched to visitor injuries and requests for assistance. Stand-by in the patrol shack as assigned. • After closing to the public at 4 p.m., participate in a sweep of the mountain to ensure everyone makes it down. • Return to the patrol room, put gear away, change clothes, and hang out. The hours are long, but the work is fun and rewarding. << See the "Day in the Lif
