A veneer is a thin shell made out of porcelain or composite material. Veneers are custom made and cemented to the front side of the tooth. A veneer can be used to treat dental conditions such as a slightly crooked tooth, discolored teeth, chipped teeth or can even be used to cover spaces in between the teeth.

I'm Robert Markey and I've been doing wood working for many many years and we're going to talk about veneers. Veneer is basically a very thin piece of wood. It can be this is probably a quarter inch, this is pretty thick for veneer that pushes the limit. It can be incredibly thin, paper thin. The idea of veneer is that it is usually a very expensive fancy beautiful wood that you are not going to need or want to use a whole board for. You are just going to have this veneer and you are going to put that on the surface of the piece of furniture or whatever it is that you are making. When you work with veneer the grain is very important. That is one of the things that you do is you get this curly nape off and you are going to use this.
