Acceptable materials are: • Newspapers, magazines and cardboard (flattened 2 x 3 feet) • Clear, brown and green glass bottles and jars • Plastic bottles with necks including laundry detergent bottles • Aluminum cans and food containers • Steel (tin) cans and food containers Materials set out at the curb in the residential program can be commingled, but it is helpful if newspapers are set at one end of the bin, with the other materials alongside. All recyclable containers (plastic bottles, aluminum, steel, and glass) should be empty and rinsed. Labels need not be removed, but lids from plastic bottles and glass containers should be removed and discarded. Crushing cans and plastic bottles is optional, but this will conserve space in the bin.
