What is ACNE Phototherapy?

Eighty percent of the population suffers with acne. Treatment with antibiotics is not always effective, and antibiotics can cause more problems. The popular “last resort” prescription, Accutane®, can cause pinkeye, dry or cracked skin, itching and nosebleed, not to mention fetal damage if taken while pregnant. Now there is an effective and safe alternative for acne therapy without the use of antibiotics or sticky ointments. Using IPL (Intense Pulsed Light), Blue Light (BLU-U), and/or Levulon, severe acne lesions and scars are improved. In addition, enlarged oil glands are destroyed thereby eliminating future oily complexions and acne breakouts. Depending on the type and severity of the acne, one or more modalities are employed. For deep acne scars, we recommend Fraxel re:pair, silicone, and subcision (undermining acne scar tissue with a needle to break up scar tissue).
