What is ACTH Deficiency?
• ACTH Deficiency: A rare endocrine disorder involving a lack of ACTH (adrenocorticotropic hormone) and low levels of cortisol and steroid hormones. ACTH Deficiency is listed as a “rare disease” by the Office of Rare Diseases (ORD) of the National Institutes of Health (NIH). This means that ACTH Deficiency, or a subtype of ACTH Deficiency, affects less than 200,000 people in the US population.
