What is adequate math and academic preparation for the BioMed Electronics Program?
Adequate academic preparation includes two years of recent Algebra experience. If it has been more than 5 years since you have taken any math classes, it is helpful to take an Algebra refresher course in the summer before the program starts. Two years of Algebra has been found to provide the basic math skills and analytical thinking ability necessary to complete the electronics and math courses required. Extensive use of formula manipulation and calculations are part of the electronics training. Even if you have sufficient math skills, many students find that taking Tech Math 1A in the summer before the program starts and taking the general studies courses in the summer to be very beneficial. Good general grammar and writing skills are very helpful. The program includes technical reports, written assignments, and memos. Successful BioMed Technicians are required to communicate both verbally on the job and in writing. A refresher course in the summer before classes start is helpful if w
