What is Alberta SuperNet?
Alberta SuperNet is a high-speed, high-capacity network linking approximately 4,200 provincial government facilities, schools, health care facilities and libraries in 429 Alberta communities. It’s a pathway that lets government, educators and health caregivers share and deliver information and services province-wide, and faster than ever before. The high-speed bandwidth of SuperNet is also available in rural communities to Internet service providers (ISPs) as well as Application service providers (ASPs), who in turn may market high-speed services to business and residential users in SuperNet communities. Where a business case exists to do so, service providers may extend SuperNet-based high-speed services to residences and businesses in surrounding rural areas.
