WHAT IS ALKALOIDS?
Alkaloids are nitrogenous heterocyclic (sometimes several rings with very complicated ring structure) organic compounds of plant origin having powerful physiological effects. There are numerous alkaloids. They are almost impossible to synthesize in lab and are valuable therapeutic agents.
