What is alternative dispute resolution and what are the plans?

Alternative dispute resolution (ADR) is a non-judicial process in which an impartial person assists those in a dispute to resolve the issues between them. The NSW Government supported the Wood report recommendation that ADR be used prior to, and during, care proceedings in NSW and established an Expert Working Party to consider and report on a preferred ADR model (or models) suitable for introduction in NSW. The Working Party reported in December 2009 and the NSW Government is considering its report.
