What is an Anecdotal record?
An anecdotal record is written in past tense and is an account of a child’s experience. Generally, you would have an ‘Observational Question’ and the aim of the Anecdotal Record would be to answer that question. Also, in my experience, the anecdotal record is accompanied by an analysis of the actual occurence, e.g Observational Question: How are the child’s gross motor skills developing? Homecorner, 26/10, 11.50am Observation: Child was in the home corner. She had a bandage on her left foot. She put the crutches down and started hopping on the spot on her right foot.
