What is an At-large contestant?
At-large contestants are ladies that believe that they can compete on a national level to represent their state. The at-large contestant qualifies herself by completing an application which includes questions that relate to her opinions on various subjects. The at-large title carries the same amount of clout as a contestant that receives the state title. Everyone has identical crowns and banners. Everyone starts out even across the board when it comes to the national competition.
