What is an Australian Money Tournament?
As a significant component of Tennis Australia’s player development program, Australian Money Tournaments (AMTs) were introduced in September 2005 with the objective of increasing the number of high-standard competitive opportunities for players in Australia. Who are these tournaments for? AMTs provide Australia’s leading juniors, Pro Circuit players and established players with 28 tournaments spread over twelve months of high level competition. AMTs are also available to international players of the appropriate standard. The number of AMTs will continue to grow over the next three years. Australian Money Tournaments, in many ways, represent a snapshot of the future of Australian tennis. Designed to complement Tennis Pro Circuit events – Australia’s national Challengers, Futures and ITF Circuit events – AMTs offer players a chance to earn a share of $10,000 in prize money and Level 1 Australian Ranking Points.
