The job of an elementary school counselor is different from that of a jr. high or high school counselor, who we have all had experiences with as a student when we attended school. An elementary school counselor works with all students in developing good study habits, interpersonal skills, and intrapersonal skills. The elementary school counselor teaches classroom guidance lessons, offers small group experiences for students, and talks with individual students about their concerns. Another part of my job as an elementary school counselor is to provide services for parents. One way that I provide services is to post on my website or send home the monthly newsletter, Positive Parenting. Each month the newsletter will include information which will provide ideas for helping your child develop intellectually, emotionally, and socially.
