What is an Intact Animal Permit?
An Intact Animal Permit (IAP) is required for any dog or cat residing in Dallas that has not been surgically sterilized OR verified by a licensed vet that it is permanently non-sterile. The purpose of the permit is to educate pet owners about local and state ordinances, vaccinations, bite prevention, and responsible ownership of an animal that is able to reproduce – whether or not the owner intends to breed the animal. The IAP is required by ordinance and has been in effect since October 25, 2008.
